Our Tutoring Program

Using a combination of letter-sound imagery and multi-sensory phonics, our literacy program is designed to help dyslexic students with reading and writing.

Tutoring sessions are at least an hour in length and consist of:

  • isolating individual letters and sounds
  • learning strategies for decoding words
  • reading fluency and comprehension
  • applying phonetic and grammatical rules they have learned to simple word and writing activities.

Students who have progressed to higher levels in the tutoring program will focus on:

  •    isolating and understanding the meanings and proper use of affixes
  •    syllable division and decoding multi-syllable words
  •    grammatical conventions such as parts of speech, capitalization, and punctuation
  •    proper structure of sentences and paragraphs

The first lesson is an assessment to determine what level the student will be starting at in the tutoring program.

End of month reports are provided to parents/guardians with information on how their student is progressing in the tutoring program.

It is recommended that students using this tutoring program have at least two one-hour sessions per week for best results. Sessions are available both online and in-person.

These tutoring services are available to those living in Barrie, Orillia, and the surrounding area.

Please contact us if you have any questions about this tutoring program or are interested in booking tutoring sessions.
